Other than 1 great season, he didn’t make that much progress


They were clearly a mess when he took over, but he if Armstrong leaves early, he’s leaving behing a mess (albeit a bit smaller mess) with no real identity.

This year’s team is two late FG’s misses from being 4-8. Their only close loss was to VT. And other than the two doink W’s, they beat Bill & Mary, Illinois, Duke & GT.

It amazed me how clearly overrated this UVa team was by the media and even VT fans based on not much other than gaudy passing stats.

Don’t think his stepping down is entirely due to personal self-reflection. I think he knows if he takes the high road out of Charlottesville now, he’ll be able to salvage his reputation.
